The iconic Hotel Østerport in Copenhagen has been owned and operated by Balder since 2016. While ownership remains the same, as of May 15 2024 Balder will hand over the operation of the popular hotel to Go Hotels, owned by Hotels Holding. This makes the hotel the chain's sixth in Copenhagen.

Located near the bustling Østerport Station in Copenhagen, the iconic Hotel Østerport boasts 170 rooms. A true landmark of Østerbro, which was built in 1947 and has since been redesigned, updated, and carefully renovated.

Since 2016, the property company Balder Danmark has owned and operated the hotel. However, the company has chosen to outsource the operation:

“Balder's core competency in Denmark is property management rather than hotel operation. Therefore, like with the five other hotel properties we own, we have entered a contract with a skilled hotel chain. We are very confident in passing the baton to Go Hotels, which has solid experience in hotel operation and the right visions," says Flemming Joseph Jensen, CEO of Balder.

He continues:

"When handing over hotel operation, as we are doing in this case, it is significant what will happen to the competent employees who have their everyday lives on the hotel corridors. Therefore, I am very pleased to know that these employees will remain under Go Hotels' wings.

A well-maintained hotel with many possibilities
It is not entirely coincidental that Hotel Østerport should become Go Hotels' next acquisition in the series of hotels in Copenhagen. The hotel's ideal location in the middle of one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods offers a wealth of opportunities:

“With the acquisition of Hotel Østerport, we have gained access to one of Copenhagen's most exciting neighborhoods just a stone's throw from Parken, with national matches and major events, The Little Mermaid, and Amalienborg. We take over a well-maintained hotel with many opportunities for us as a hotel chain. We see, among other things, great potential for business customers, who now have another hotel to choose from when holding meetings and conferences and finding accommodation for the company's employees," says Christopher Valentin, director of Go Hotels.

In addition to Go Hotel Østerport, which the hotel will be called, Go Hotel also operates the airport hotel Go Hotel Copenhagen in Kastrup, Go Hotel City on Amager, Go Hotel Herlev west of Copenhagen, and Go Hotel Saga and Go Hotel Ansgar in the city center. With the addition of Hotel Østerport, Go Hotels now offer a total of 749 rooms across the capital region.
