Marie Carmen Koppel sings Christmas songs with the residents of Ørestad
On Saturday, the singer Marie Carmen Koppel visited all Balder's properties in Ørestad. Here she went from courtyard to courtyard and sang the Christmas songs we all love, spreading the Christmas spirit throughout the neighborhood.
The pianist begins to play the notes for ‘Christmas Time Is Here’, while Marie smiles at the children and adults who have gathered in front of her in the courtyard. She takes her glittering microphone up to her mouth and starts singing.
Her intense and moving voice fills the courtyard and makes the residents sing along the music. The music can also be heard outside the courtyard, so the christmas spirit is spread throughout the area.
This concert took place in Bastionen and is just one of a total of 13 smaller concerts that the real-estate company has arranged at all their properties both in and outside Copenhagen. The other concerts in Ørestad were held in Lavetten, Stævnen, Hesteskoen, Elsehus, Fælledkanten and Fælledudsigten.
Property director at Balder Denmark Christina Holberg Fenger says that they wanted to spread joy and Christmas spirit in a different Christmas season:
“Christmas is a very special time that usually includes intimacy and love. But as with everything else this year, the corona has set limits on how we can celebrate Christmas and how close we can be. We wanted to do something special for our residents, and the area in general, and Christmas concerts with Marie Carmen Koppel were an obvious idea. It was fantastic to see all the residents smile and sing along to the Christmas songs we all love,” she says.
The concerts spread Christmas spirit and joy
Anne Elisabeth Nyberg, who lives in Bastionen with her son and dog, enjoyed the concert from the courtyard with her parents and son.
"It is a really good initiative on Balder's part. Marie is a talented singer, and it was some beautiful Christmas songs she sang.”
Balder has previously held courtyard concerts and other events for the residents, and Christina Holberg Fenger points out that this is something the real-estate company works focused on, as it contributes to the community and well-being among the residents.
Caroline Mathilde Reitzel, who lives in Fælledkanten with her boyfriend and cat, is one of the residents who has noticed Balder's focus on events.
"I really appreciate the social events that Balder holds for us, because community grow out of them," she says.
"The residents of Ørestad have a lot to look forward to"
Balder Danmark owns 7 properties in Ørestad, and recently the company's last property, Bastionen, was completed. This means that they have now finished building in Ørestad, but according to Christina Holberg Fenger, the company is far from finished developing the area and creating value here.
Balder has already made a huge effort to lift the whole area, and it is, among other things, shown in the retail life and the many common facilities at their properties. E.g the wine bar thorsteinsson's, the event café COBRAcph and the hairdressing salon BeYoutiful Cph are housed in their properties. And recently, the French bakery, La Boulangerie, opened in Bastionen.
According to Christina Holberg Fenger, the residents have a lot to look forward to.
“We will continue our work of makeing Ørestad a fantastic and vibrant place to live with a rich shopping life, good facilities and community-promoting events. The residents have a lot to look forward to,” she concludes.
